Sephora Lash Stash Review

I'm sure all of you know about the fabulous lash kits that Sephora releases around the holidays.  For those of you that don't, you won't want to miss out!  The new Sephora Lash Stash kit arrived at Sephora a few weeks ago and debuted at $45.  It contains eleven products; ten mascaras, and a set of false lashes.  The sales associate told me it contained three "full size" products; she must have been counting the lashes, because only two of the mascaras fit that bill.  Regardless, this is a great deal!  I buy this every year, and the mascara is enough to sustain me for almost the full year.  By then it's time to buy the new one!  I have pictures of each individual product and the wands in no particular order.  I'll also be including my opinion of each one.  This post is a bit long, so hold onto your hats!

Tarte Lights, Camera, Flashes

This mascara claims to boost volume by up to 752 percent.  While I can't speak to the accuracy of that figure, I can say that it does give crazy volume!  This is one of my favorites from this kit.  I'm a long time lover of Tarte, and the Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara.  This was one of the two full size mascaras in the kit.  The brush has two distinct bristle sizes, a short dense side, and one with very long bristles.  I love the volume and length this mascara provides, but I also find it can make my lashes look a bit spidery if I'm not careful about concentrating the brush on the lower part of my lashes.

Blinc Mascara

This is a pretty interesting product.  The claim to fame here is that the mascara doesn't actually "paint" onto your lashes like traditional mascaras, but envelopes them in black tubes that will stay like nobody's business!  I haven't really noticed the tube thing, but this is a great mascara as far as staying power is concerned.  It's water resistant, non irritating, and I don't notice any flaking or clumping.  This is perfect for sensitive eyes, or an occasion where tears may be involved!  The thing for me though, is the brush.  There's absolutely nothing I find special about it, and it does nothing for great volume or length.  I wanted to love this sooo much, because I think the mascara itself is amazing, but the brush sort of kills it for me.

Make Up For Ever Smokey Extravagant Mascara

The brush on this is very dramatic!  The extreme taper on it is designed to use the pointy end to separate lashes while the other side adds volume.  The mascara itself is very black and has a nice amount of gloss to it.  I don't think the volume is out of this world, but I have been enjoying it, and find that it's not dramatic enough to exclude every day wear.

Clinique High Impact Mascara

This is the perfect mascara to use day to day.  The formula itself is glossy, and doesn't clump.  I can put on three or four coats of this without any clumping at all.  It provides a fair amount of volume, and does a very good job of separating and fanning out the lashes.  This is also very gentle on the eyes.  It never irritates my contacts or sensitive skin, which is a big plus for me!  I had never tried a Clinique mascara before, and I'm glad to have remedied that fact!

Sephora Collection Outrageous Mascara

This was the second full sized mascara, and boy am I disappointed!  I have never been a fan of the Sephora Collection products, save a couple of lip glosses.  I find them to be like most other store brands in that they're inferior products.  This mascara is nothing special, it's something that I'm sure you could find a comparable substitution for at the drugstore.  The formula is very wet, and seems to get everywhere.  That paired with the smudging and flaking that invariably ensue shorty after application make it a deal breaker for me.  Even after trying to dry it out a little, I still found it to be difficult to work with.

Lancome Hypnose Drama

This is another mascara that I really like.  It's described as having an "S" shaped brush and, worth note, having no fragrance.  Maybe I'm just crazy, but I think it has a distinct perfumey smell.  I'm sure it's not scented, but maybe it's just one of the chemicals in it.  It's a little bit off putting to me, I have a very sensitive sense of smell.  Anyhow, it's a very nice formula and the bend in the brush does help to make my lashes have a lot of volume focused on the base of the lashes.  I use this mascara if I'm doing a more toned down or soft look.  I am starting to really love this mascara!

Benefit They're Real!

Needless to say, there is a lot of hype surrounding this mascara.  I've tried it before, and never really liked it, but I'm LOVING it this time around.  The formula is very glossy and wet, so the tip when applying this is to hold it close to the root of the lash and slowly wiggle upwards.  This is a mascara that I find I need to take time while applying.  If I go too fast it seems to clump up on me and make my lashes turn into some sort of cartoon that only has three eyelashes!  The precision tip on the end is really nice for getting to those tiny lashes that are closest to the inner corner of your eye.  A very cool product that warrants trying!

Buxom Lash Mascara

I have been a long time lover of this mascara, and was glad to see it was included.  The hourglass shaped brush really does a good job at not overloading the brush with product, which is what causes clumping.  This mascara never clumps, no matter how many coats you apply.  It gives a very full appearance to the lashes, and is very black, which I love in my mascara.  This is an excellent mascara, and I would recommend it to absolutely anyone!

YSL Babydoll Mascara

This is a mascara that kind of has me stumped.  It has a tiny little brush with minuscule bristles that are designed to add volume without clumping or flaking.  It also says that it can last up to 24 hours, and I do find it to be very long wearing, but in turn, very hard to remove.  I also find it to give me very long lashes with very little effort, but my lashes are plenty long, and don't need more length to them.  I don't find that I reach for this one very often, but I'm hoping that given more time I may start to like it.

Too Faced Better Than Sex

Hands down the best mascara in the kit!  Possibly ever.  I can't say enough good things about this mascara.  It separates, lengthens, volumizes, you name it.  I can add two or three coats before it starts clumping, and because the bristles are so dense, you do run that risk.  With this one if you keep working with it, you can work any clumps out easily.  This is also one of the darkest mascaras I've ever seen  What else could a girl want?!

Sephora Collection False Eyelashes in Celebrity

I'm going to be honest, I don't wear false eyelashes.  I am not lacking in the lash department, and in general I don't find them to look natural day to day.  The line has a 4.1 out of 5 star rating on Sephora, and there are lots of reviews if you're interested in learning more.  You can access that page here.

All in all this has some really phenomenal mascaras in it and is a great deal.  Most of these mascaras are over twenty dollars for the full size, so as far as price goes it's about the cost of two of these.  I've had hours of fun playing with these products, and had a blast reviewing them.  Does anyone else have this kit?  If so, would you recommend it?  Enjoy the weekend!
